Alec Glasser Music Scholarship at UC Irvine

The Drake Gives/Alec Glasser UCI Music Scholarship at UC Irvine supports students who want to incorporate music into their future careers. Established in 2023 through a partnership between the UC Irvine School of Social Ecology and The Drake Gives, this scholarship empowers students of all majors to explore the transformative role of music in fields such as healthcare, education, research, policy, urban development and technology.

Each year, Alec’s nonprofit foundation, The Drake Gives—dedicated to expanding access to music education—awards $100,000 in scholarships to 10 students, ensuring financial need never stands in the way of using music in innovative, cross-industry ways. As founder Alec Glasser says, “Music is a fundamental part of the soul…we need new creativity to keep that moving forward.” Glasser Scholars embody this vision. Adrian Vizcarra, a game design major, shares, “This scholarship is helping me explore how music can elevate storytelling, deepen emotional impact, and create more meaningful connections through the games I design.” Music is more than entertainment—it’s a force that heals, unites, and inspires. Through the Glasser Scholars program and the Alec Glasser Center at UC Irvine, students are discovering bold, unexpected ways to use music to drive change and shape the future.

How to Apply

The Drake Gives/Alec Glasser UCI Music Scholarship is open to all UC Irvine undergraduate students, regardless of major. To apply, please follow the instructions on the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships website.
